Given the open nature of the government of the United Republic, the general opinion of that government can be found here, while official statements can be found within the Statements from the Nationale Senaat thread.

February 3rd, 1940 Following reports of the killing of Rosovian illegals within the nation of Vikingland, the Nationale Senaat has expressed concern over the issue.
When asked his thoughts on the situation, Senator Adrien Poplin stated that "Surely killing the immigrants that are found is unnecessary, as they can simply be returned to their nation of origin. And I won't even touch the worrying precident it sets for the treatment of foreign nationals, regardless of legality." The majority of the Senaat expressed similar opinions.
"Given the breach of what most Albans and Kolonians consider to be a basic human right - That of free immigration/emigration - I personally see no reason to maintain or seek diplomatic ties with such a nation that would kill foreigners for the crime of being foreigners. An international embargo could very well be what we need, rather than risk all-out war." said Senator Anderson Cooke, when asked what he believed the response to this incident should be.
Other members of the Senaat believed that confrontation, and by extension the risk of war, must be avoided at all cost. "Given the war-like nature of the majority of the region, it would be in the best interest of the Republic to remain at a distance from this incident." came Senator Jean Winford's reply to the majority opinion.
Following an eight hour debate on the situation and the various options, the Senaat voted 31-5 to issue a statement of strong disapproval of the actions of Vikingland, and observe how the situation develops in the future.

Observing recent events within the region, the Senaat have made a number of comments.
When asked his opinion on the wider affair, Eugene Powell had this to say: "This whole situation could have been avoided, had the Pints seen fit to take part in international diplomacy. I can't say we wouldn't react the same way to an uncommunicative, yet expanding, power on our borders. This is an incredibly large-scale misunderstanding that will no doubt further degrade the regard in which Pintegorsk is viewed by the international community." In addition, he encouraged both sides to ".. remember that you're part of the international community. You're not going to get everything you want, and you have no right to expect the other side to accept your terms as they are. Compromise must be found, for there to be progress."
Most of the comments about the situation were directed at the aggression of Vikingland. "Sometimes I wonder if their king even thinks through his decisions, and the effects they have on international relations with his country. His decision to involve himself in this situation has greatly affected international opinion of him, and not for the better." said newly minted Senator Mattijs Stoevenbeld, when asked his thoughts about Vikingland's actions.
Senator Francis Churchill gave his thoughts on the intent of the king of Vikingland; "Their decision to provoke Rosov like this provides an interesting insight into the thoughts of their king. He wants war, and he will latch onto any situation to get it."
Thus far, no action has been decided upon by the Senaat.
